5000 Western Shramadana in one week for "Clean Sri Lanka"

The “Clean Western Province” program, a regional initiative under the broader “Clean Sri Lanka” campaign, commenced on the 3rd of February with a shramadana campaign at the Malabe public bus stand and surrounding area. The launch was led by Western Province Governor, Hanif Yusoof.

This week-long campaign, running from February 3rd to 9th, 2025, will involve the participation of all government institutions and community members across the Western Province.

The inaugural event in Malabe saw the collaboration of government officials, local representatives, volunteers, and community members, including Member of Parliament, Kaushalya Ariyaratne. Activities focused on waste removal, sanitation of public restrooms, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the bus stand and its vicinity.

Under the Governor’s guidance, the Western Province aims to conduct 5,000 “Clean Sri Lanka” programs throughout the province. The Malabe event served as a successful first step in this endeavor.

To ensure sustained cleanliness and attractiveness beyond the campaign week, a dedicated cleaning day has been designated every Friday. These efforts will be carried out without disrupting daily operations.

The “Clean Western Province” initiative is a key component of the “Clean Sri Lanka” campaign, aimed at creating a cleaner and more appealing environment across the Western Province. Further programs are planned as part of this ongoing.
