The Art, Craft, and Street Drama Exhibition and Talent Show held on World Children’s Day on October 10, 2024, at the Colombo Governor’s Office was a heartwarming celebration of children’s creativity and resilience. Organized by the Western Province Probation and Child Care Services Department, the event showcased the talents of institutionalized children and those residing in child development centers.
The event was graced by the presence of Governor of the Western Province, Mr. Hanif Yusoof, who presided over the ceremony, and Australian High Commissioner, Mr. Paul Stephens, who also attended the art exhibition. These distinguished guests supported the children and acknowledged their courage and creativity in the face of difficult circumstances.
In his speech, the Governor emphasized the pressing issues that children around the world are facing, particularly in regions affected by ongoing conflicts and war. He called for a collective effort to end wars and conflicts, which are disproportionately affecting the lives of children globally. The Governor’s message centered on the need to stand up for world peace and ensure that future generations grow up in a world free from violence and instability.
