On the request of the Governor, Ven. Kirinde Assaji thero together with several donors of the Gangaramaya Temple, handed over dry rations sufficient for 1000 packs in order to assist the public affected by the precautionary ban on inter-province travel. The thero said that they hope to provide further assistance in the days to come.

The distribution of these ration packs will be undertaken by Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon and his team from the Sri Lanka Police.
