A coastal cleanup program was held at Crow Island Beach in Mattakkuliya, in alignment with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Sunil Watagala, and Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof, among others, participated in the event.
Conducted under the theme “A Beautiful Coastline – An Attractive Destination,” the program aimed to create a cleaner coastal environment and a more appealing destination for tourists. As part of this effort, 1,740 kilometers across 124 locations in the Western and Southern Provinces are expected to be cleaned.
Earlier, on November 22nd, 2024, Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof conducted an inspection visit to Crow Island Beach. During this visit, he identified the area’s potential to enhance the country’s tourism industry. Subsequent discussions were held to develop the region into a prominent tourist destination.
