Conference on “Peace, Harmony and Coexistence” ends with a Muslim World League’s donation of Rs 900 million given to the government of Sri Lanka in aid of the Easter Sunday blast victims.
The Conference on “Peace, Harmony and Coexistence” at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre on 30th July, 2019, organized by A. J. M. Muzammil, Governor of the Western Province was successfully concluded with an attendance of more than 1,500 delegates including representatives from more than 10 countries throughout the globe.
His Excellency the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena was the Chief Guest while Dr. Mohammad Abdulkareem Alissa Secretary General of Muslim World League was a special guest at the Conference.
The meeting was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, ministers , legislators, representatives from NGOs , government departments, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, Parliament Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge.
During his visit to the island, Dr. Alissa held talks with the chiefs of the four Nikayas, Colombo Archbishop; Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith ,Hindhu and Muslim leaders. He also visited the Kochikade Church where the Easter Sunday bomb blast took place on April,21,2019.
At the conference, Dr. Alissa pledged a donation of Rs 900 million to the government of Sri Lanka to help the Easter Sunday blast victims.
